God is the answer to all our problems or questions. And how does He solve our problems, heals our hurts, and satisfy our needs? With His Word! The Word of God is not an ancient book written by people who are so distant from our experience. It’s God’s letter, His road-map, His manual for how we can experience true abundance.
Imagine walking aimlessly in a hot desert, running out of water, and beaten down by the blazing sun. There there blows in a map telling you where you can find water—at that point what do you do? You drink! Well, this morning, we’re going to hear Paul open up God’s Word and give instructions for how we can experience newness, assurance, and hope. See, God’s Word is living water for dry souls. It’s medicine for the sick soul. It’s comfort for the hurting.
When God’s Word speaks, life is born. Think of Adam. It says, “God breathed into him the breath of life and he became a living being.” (Gen. 2:7) Paul tells us that, “All of Scripture is breathed of God!” (2 Timothy 3:16) God’s Word is the breath of life. Do we get it? Nothing lives that does not breathe. God wants to give us life, and that life is in His Word.
May God breathe His Word over us!
