The Game Plan

I love it when things come together. Or, as Colonel John “Hannibal” Smith said in the original A-Team, “I love it when a plan comes together!” It could be in a game or in real life. But as you know, things don’t just happen out of the blue. The best success is the one we’ve planned for!

The disciples of Jesus knew this well. Jesus had just ascended to heaven, and He told them to wait in Jerusalem! That was the command. Wait! The Disciples obeyed Jesus’ command to wait in Jerusalem because they truly believed He was God. So they prayed, studied Scripture, and trusted His mission fully (Acts 1:12-26). Can you guess what happened next? Heaven came for a visit.

Many times we think that we can simply walk ourselves into success without any thought, planning, or a strategy. By now, the disciples knew better. They had learned their lesson. Jesus had already told them, “Without Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5) Having been filled with the Holy Spirit, they were compelled towards unity and got into a huddle in the Upper Room! What happened afterwards cannot be separated from what happened prior. God came down upon them with tongues of fire, because they were seeking God together in prayer and in reading Scripture!

It is because of this obedience that God was able to accomplish His mission in them. There is a lesson here: we can’t fulfill our life mission without finding out our mission. Jesus has given you a mission. Do you know what it is? Do you desire to find out? When you do, like Peter and the Disciples, you will become a part of God’s game plan for the world.

Let’s be about God’s plan,
Pastor Briant
