Wherever God opens a door, Satan seeks to close it. In Acts 14:27, we saw how “God opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.” These new Gentile believers have come to believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior. Then things got testy.
In Acts 15:1, we read that “Some came from Judea teaching that Gentiles (those newly converted to Christ) could not be saved without circumcision.” This happened right after Paul’s visit to Iconium. (Acts 14:1) What these other Jews were saying is that the new Gentile Christians must become Jews or be circumcised in order to be saved. But Jesus never taught that. Salvation is by faith alone through grace alone in Jesus alone. Nothing else is needed. It’s Jesus minus anything else. Do you realize that Jesus alone saves us? Nothing we do, good or bad, can qualify or disqualify us. It’s only what Christ has done that gives us the right to become children of God. (John 1:12) This is really good news! Jesus is enough. Thank God.
May He be enough for you this week,
