Sierra Madre
Lead PAstor
opportunity profile
Bethany Church of Sierra Madre, California is seeking someone who is willing to take on the challenge of leading our church into the next chapter of fruitful ministry. It is our desire to find the candidate of God's choosing. The candidate should have a desire to serve God and the Church while being true to the primacy of Scripture. He should strive to communicate the Good News of Christ to the Church, our community, and beyond.
While the congregation skews to an older congregation, we have an active children’s program. We are looking for a pastor who is willing to build a church with younger families and children. In the past we have been a missionary-sending church and we continue to support those missionaries in the present.
Bethany Church of Sierra Madre is situated in the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains. Sierra Madre is a small town of 11,000 people. However, along with Pasadena, it's neighbor to the west, is part of the Greater Los Angeles metropolitan area, with a population of over 18 million people.

Church overview
Currently Bethany Church has one Sunday service at 10:00 a.m. with approximately 80
to 100 people in attendance. We are being served by an interim pastor, associate pastor, youth and worship pastor, part time children's director and many volunteers who lead adult and youth ministries on Sundays and throughout the week. More than half of Bethany attendees are involved in the ministries of the church.
Bethany Church with its 100-year history has had its challenges in ministries. We experienced challenges in the 80s over types of music. We have had times of financial struggle. We continue to be known as a congregation that loves one another and is a strong supporter of global missions.
Bethany Church is also home to Bethany Christian School. The school is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International & Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The school is serving over 150 students from pre-school through middle school. We partner closely with the school. It is considered an important ministry outreach of Bethany to the churched and unchurched. The church staff partner with the head of school to offer support and consult.
The church has a 3-acre campus including a main sanctuary, office building, school buildings, and a gym/ministry center, which includes a kitchen. We are debt free.
